NOTSENSIBLES

Notsensibles Night n Day cafe March 2006

The Notsensibles were one of the plethora of UK punk bands of the late 70s/early 80s. They had none of the sneering seriousness of many of their contempories and came into their own in establishing the fun side of punk with their not sensible outlook and schoolboyish prankster behaviour.

They were always obscure, never touring and making relatively few live appearances. They did however record 4 singles, an album and a John Peel session. Their brash, Irreverent and joyously poppy songs sound as relevant today as they did then.

Many years on, and Notsensibles agreed to play (with full original line-up) at a reunion gig of The Railway Workers (27th Aug 2005), which was the venue at the centre of the North East Lancs punk scene between 1979 and 1981. Along with former Railway Workers regulars Chimp Eats Banana and Tiger Tails, they played to a packed house, and went down a storm.

They played a few more gigs (including one in Madrid) before finally going their separate ways. They also recorded a single which will be released on vinyl at some point along with their full remastered back catalogue
